From the Club Manager May 2018

This is going to be the best season ever. We have had several new members join in recent months, and hopefully more will come join us soon. Invite your friends and coworkers to to come out for a sail or come to this weekend's Open House. Word of mouth is still the best advertising!

Tuesday Fun Races are at full speed with about a dozen boats yesterday. I expect four Lidos racing tonight (the friendliest people in all the Northwest). And the Thursday night crowd has been at it for over a month with near thirty boats in the early season's adventurous weather.  The Commodore, after filling the lake, has promised perfect wind and sun right up to the end of September. So come on out.

Our two kayak racks are fully rented so we are looking to add a third one. Additionally, the club plans to buy a couple of inexpensive SUPs (Stand Up Paddleboards). These are a ton of fun—especially for the spectators.

Out at the lake we have new recycling rules—just like everywhere. They have been posted on the garbage/recycle center enclosure. Let's all do our best to be as green as possible.

The club's boat fleet continues to grow.  We have added a new aluminum powerboat to help administer teaching and race programs, and we have added a couple of Lasers and a Hunter 23 for member use. Watch for news on how these will be made available. One of the steps for kids to sail is a signed Minor Participant Release form that will need to be signed by a parent/guardian for any of the youth programs, including Sail School. The nice thing is that one form will get you through everything the whole year.

In the next month we have Rescue Boat classes on the 12th and Race Committee training on the 19. Both require registration, which you can do on our website. Also on May 19 is the May Potluck and General Membership meeting (moved up a from the last Saturday every May to avoid conflict with the Memorial Day Regatta).  Our annual Memorial Day Regatta is May 26 and 27.  If you want to help or have questions, contact Dean Mitchell. You can register to race on this first regatta (and still get a discount until May 19) online at Regatta Network.

As far as the Dog Policy, it looks as if that is going to happen. It is kind of a "by permit only" setup and owners will have to sign and send in a form. There will be limitations, but hopefully that will be finalized very soon. Watch the "This Week" emails that come out on Mondays for details.
