From the Club Manager February 2021

There are good things happening! The water is coming up and we can already sail Lasers. The Corps seems quite determined to get Fern Ridge full this year.

And Eugene Yacht Club will be open for business! We are following Governor Brown's and the Oregon Health Authority's guidelines: wear a mask when not alone, limit gatherings to small groups, stay six feet away from people who are not family members, wash your hands often, and stay home when sick. Having said that, we have a full schedule of plans like any other year and even if we end up cancelling some group events early in the season, we encourage members to come out and enjoy EYC as it is easy to socially distance on the grounds. And this is a nice place to just be.

The most important thing you should be doing right now is getting in your moorage requests, whether it's wet or dry moorage or to register your kayak, canoe, or SUP. This is most easily done by going to the Members Area of the website and clicking on the "Manage Your Moorage Here" button. Yes, everyone does this every year. The one point to note is that we recently changed the password to both the Members Area and the gate code recently as we do every year as a security measure. That information is on the back of your membership card. If you have not received your membership card, please call me (541-321-0332).

The second most important thing to be doing right now is praying for rain. The third is to plan to come out for the Work Party on February 20 at 9:00 am. The Port Commission has figured out how to perform the many Spring tasks to be done in a safe way, and we have many cool projects going on. The fourth most important thing is for you to do your rain dance. The fifth most important thing you can do is to get Zoom savvy so that you can participate in the remote meetings safely (next opportunity is February 27 for our virtual happy hour and membership meeting). And sixth, be safe!
