From the Club Manager August 2021

This is certainly an interesting year for the club and for boating in general. The double whammy of the virus and the drought have made our season both shorter and smaller. Thankfully, we still have seven feet of water at the ramp and most of the slips still have plenty of water. The level is dropping about three inches per week, though, so plan accordingly.

Sail School was interesting this year as we tried to do a shortened version without sending kids into the water. A big shout out to Janell Skeen and all the parents and volunteers who stepped up to make it happen—and to the kids who seem to have fun no matter what. Water Fest was also condensed a bit to keep people out of the water, but was a success nonetheless. Much appreciation to Kevin Hansen for making it happen.

The business of the club is going well. We will be billing for unworked work party hours on September 1. The Budget Committee and the Nominating Committee are beginning to wake up in preparation for the Annual Meeting on October 30. The process of hiring a new Media Manager is moving along. And we have attracted a bunch of new members. All in all, the club is quite healthy.

I will remind you that the latest version of the EYC calendar is on the website. Of course it all remains in pencil like everything else these days. Even if there are not many events on the club calendar and your boat has just been pulled, the club is a really nice place to just be. I hope you all are able to come out and spend a little time just sitting on the lawn contemplating nothing at all.
