Club Manager Update June 2022

This past month has been exciting with the introduction of youth racing clinics by Landon Junge and Emily Avey.  We also saw the inauguration of a youth Regatta which sailors who traveled from the Portland area and involvement with U of O and Oregon State College teams.  The next step is the opening of Sailing instruction the week prior and week following to sail school and possibly beyond.

After our recent Memorial Day weekend storm, the Board of directors request me to inspect the boats tied to our docks and seek to identify trailers which have no indication of their owners.  As we are all aware damage to our docks are expensive.  While doing so I also noted boats with state registration stickers out of date.  All members have the regulations printed in the handbook showing rope size and the snubber requirements.  If any member has questions on proper securing of their boats, please feel free to reach out to the Port Commission or Club Manager.

A reinspection will be held, July 1st.  Boats not having proper lines or appropriately sized snubbers or missing snubbers will be noted and repairs will be made with the appropriate non-refundable charges added to the boat owner’s bill.  The results of the inspection are listed below.

Missing, improperly sized snubbers on docks – 16 Boats

Undersized Dock Lines on Boats- 2

Trailers on grounds with no name on tongue- 34

Expired or missing registrations- 61

On a brighter note… Sail School is about to begin thanks to Director Janell Skeen and many Club Member-Volunteers.  Many Classes are now full but selected classes have openings.  The 4th of July New York-Big Apple Celebration is coming soon.  Thank you, Becky Barker and Committee.  This is a good time to meet and great new and old friends A special thank you to all the Volunteers who make these events so special for us.  Don’t forget.
