January 2020

I can’t believe it’s 2022. This year I was hoping we would have a virus that is behind us and water in the lake. So far my water order has exceeded expectations. I just hope that I did not put my order in too early. I’ll keep up the rain dances!

The Omicron surge is causing us to pause most of our winter activities. While the virus continues to disrupt many winter club activities we will be looking to the spring and all of the safer outdoor opportunities the EYC grounds provide us. The Lane Youth Soccer Association donated large outdoor tents they are no longer using. We will put those up this spring to provide safe, covered outdoor spaces for you to gather safely with friends and family. These tents, when up, will be open to any EYC club member and their friends and family.

Last year Commodore Rich Johnson and Katie Bloom O’Brien began a new tradition with the deck opening party. This was one of EYC’s best events. Katie is going to take the helm again to provide another incredible deck party with good drinks, great food, incredible band, and most importantly, good friends. The deck party will happen in June and will take the place of the Commodore’s Ball, Skipper’s and Mates, and other events we have had to cancel due to COVID safety. I can’t wait to see you there!

Many of you may have heard the rumor. We will not be able to do fireworks this year for the 4th of July. The 4th of July at EYC is more than just the incredible fireworks. The 4th of July has always been an incredible day of festivities. Heidi Leyba and Becky Barker have begun working to make this another incredible 4th of July at EYC. I have a feeling they will begin leaking some of their plans in future newsletters, so stay tuned!

Above are a few of the fun events we can look forward to at EYC this season. Members and the board will be what we do best, coming together to make EYC the community we all know and love.

I hope to see all of you at the club this coming season. I especially look forward to meeting those of you I do not yet know.

Keep up the rain dances! We could all use a full lake this summer!
