Lightning Fleet

About EYC’s Lightning Fleet:

Lightning sailing is back at EYC. Fleet 229 has 6 Lightnings at the club, with more boats ready for new skippers. Fern Ridge Reservoir is nearly perfect for sailing Lightnings. With the big freshwater lake and great summertime breezes, the Lightning is just a joy to sail. The boat is 19 feet long, 700 lbs with Main, Jib and Spinnaker. Typically sailed with 2 or 3, but can handle as many as 6 in the boat with comfortable seats and decks. The stability of the Lightning makes the boat a wonderful trainer for new-to-sailing folks, while the big spinnaker provides plenty of excitement on a breezy downwind leg.

Come down on a Tuesday night (fun race) or Thursday night (slightly more serious racing) and we will be sure to get you on a Lightning. Come be part of one of the largest one-design multi-person sailboats in the country. Fleet sailing is just the start! The Lightning class runs regional, continental and world championships.
