From the Club Manager May 2021

Wow! What a warm and beautiful Spring! Unfortunately, all those April showers we skipped have left us with a lower-than-normal water level. That's the bad news, but there is a ton of good news! The citizens of Oregon are beginning to get a handle on this virus. The club's events and activities are beginning to take place. We have a bunch of new members this year. And I am going to need sunscreen!

Sail School has been moved to the week of July 18. We remain uncertain what that is going to look like because of the virus, but we are hoping to get it as normal as possible. Memorial Day Regatta has also been moved into the heart of the summer and renamed the MidSummer Regatta. Please come out and join us; registration is now open and online at Regatta Network. Planning is in the works for a June 19 outdoor celebration at the club (look below for more details). Our Fourth of July festivities, however, remain a bit of a question mark. The permit for this event has not yet been approved but we hope to know more soon. The full EYC calendar on the website has the most current list of events. Click on those little arrows to move from month to month.

Many members still need Work Party hours. Please contact me if you don't know how many hours you need and contact Gary Powell if you know you need hours and are wondering what the Port Commission has on their long list of projects. The due date for completing this year's work party hours is July 31.

Port Captain Gordon Mattatall is in charge of all moorage, and he has made all the assignments. Moorage assignments are now posted on the bulletin board in the breezeway between the restrooms, so if you're not sure where your boat belongs, consult there. I would like to remind you that you are in charge of the maintenance of your moorage spot. That means dock lines are required to be tied correctly to cleats that are correctly anchored and any grass around your boat or trailer needs to be mowed regularly.

And don't forget to use your sunscreen!
